Imtiaz Ali is one of the top talented directors of Bollywood and Rockstar, Jab We Met and Highway are some of the fine examples of his work. The director is making buzz for his upcoming film, Love Aaj Kal. 

Now many would wonder why such a talented director kept the same title as of 2009’s Love Aaj Kal for his 2020 release? In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra on FC Unfiltered, the director of rmance and love stories or as he was called during the interview ‘the love guru’, revealed the reasons behind his decision to keep the title same.

Imtiaz said that Love Aaj Kal is not a sequel and doesn’t follow the journey of character from the previous film of same title featuring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, so it can’t be named Love Aaj Kal 2. The director also doesn’t call it a reboot as the concept migh look similar with two love stories of different era but it’s not same.

The man behind Rockstar, said that the new Love Aaj Kal (2020) is a film about love story based on today’s generation where physical intimacy doesn’t mean as much as it used to do in the past. Imtiaz also revealed that ‘Reverse’ was one of the options as the title for the film, but I am sure many would agree that it was good that he didn’t use that title.
